In a recent report by TheRoot.com, Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin was named one of The Root’s 100 Most Influential Black Americans. Mayor Benjamin ranked #46 on the list, behind actor Anthony Mackie who was #45. Benjamin is Columbia, South Carolina’s first African-American mayor and first new mayor in 20 years.
