Lil Wayne Settles $20 Million “Lollipop” Lawsuit With Producer

April 30th, 2012 | By @HYPEMANCOOPSDM

Lil Wayne has reached a deal with a bitter ex-producer over the Grammy Award-winning hit single “Lollipop,” TMZ is reporting.

According to the celebrity news website, Weezy and producer Darius Harrison, who claims he produced several songs on the Tha Carter III, including “Lollipop,” was never paid for his work and was suing for $20 million of the over $70 million that the album grossed in total.

Although Wayne initially shot that demand down, TMZ reported Monday (April 30) that he and Harrison finally settled the case by reaching a confidential agreement. The case has been dismissed. Deezle wasn’t the track’s only producer that had legal problems with Cash Money. Jim Jonsin too has taken issue with receiving payments from the imprint owned by Ronald “Slim” Williams and Brian “Baby” Williams in the past.

“Lollipop” set off Tha Carter III LP, as the first lead single off the album. “A Milli,” “Got Money” and “Mrs. Officer” all followed as the next batch of singles that the album cooked up and released to the masses.

“Lollipop” also featured late R&B artist Static Major, who died two weeks before the release of the song, but had taken part in the video shoot alongside Weezy for the track before.

Of course, Lil Wayne would go on to release, Tha Carter IV LP last August. That album had Weezy rolling out singles such as “6 Foot 7 Foot,” “John,” “How to Love,” “She Will,” “It’s Good” and “Mirror.” The album reached first week sales of 964,000 copies in the United States during its debut week

April 30th, 2012 | By @HYPEMANCOOPSDM

The Cash Money DJ’s tour bus caught flames on the way to a concert in Orlando on Friday night (April 27), but Khaled and his team are okay…

DJ Khaled and his team sure survived a scare over the weekend.

The Cash Money DJ had to cancel a scheduled concert in Orlando on Friday night (April 27) after his tour bus went up in flames.

“I’m sry I couldn’t make it 2 grad bash it was out of my control my tour bus caught on fire & blew up!,” Khaled tweeted out to the masses shortly after the event, adding a photo of the bus covered in flames. “The gd thing me & my team is ok!”

After surviving that scare it’s highly likely that Khaled will go back to setting his full focus on his next album, Kiss The Ring.

The LP’s lead single, “Take It to the Head,” featuring Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown continues to heat up on radio.

Meanwhile, Khaled further created buzz by teaming up with Kanye West for Yeezy’s massive single “Theraflu,” which was later renamed to “Way Too Cold.”

The boisterous Khaled also promised fans that the next collabo he and ’Ye cooked up will be another undeniable banger.

“Me and Kanye West went back in the lab and we made another record and got some features on there too,” he told MTV earlier in the month. “I can’t really talk about it, so expect another monstrous earthquake to hit the streets

Waka Flocka Blasts 2Pac Hologram

April 28th, 2012 | By admin

Waka Flocka

It seemed like most of hip hop was happy with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg performing with a hologram of 2Pac at this year’s Coachella Festival, but at least one hip hop star didn’t support the idea. Rapper Waka Flocka Flame blasted the hologram performance in a recent interview, claiming that everyone should ‘let that man rest in peace.’
Waka says, even though the money from the performance went to charities, he didn’t think it was fitting.
“I hated it, I don’t think that sh*t needs to be done,” he said. “That sh*t wack. I don’t think they should be doing that. ‘Cause they getting paid off a dead man’s body…that sh*t still ain’t cool [that the charity got paid]. You don’t know what a dead man be wanting to do…you gotta let that man rest in peace. He’s a great.”

Jadakiss Discusses His New Hairdo [Video]

April 27th, 2012 | By @HYPEMANCOOPSDM

A couple of weeks ago, pictures of Jadakiss in the studio with Kanye West, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes and DJ Khaled surfaced on the Internet. Not only were fans excited about the collaborations that could potentially come out of that session, but they were also surprised to see that, after all of these years of being known for his baldy, Jada, who was sporting a new dark Caesar cut in the flick, had hair. Kiss says he let his hair grow in because people doubted he could.

“One of my reasons for growing it was that a lot of people think my hair couldn’t grow,” Jada said with a smile last week at the D-Block studios while taping a segment for MTV2’s “Sucker Free.” “Then I wanted to do a new look with a new album. The ladies say they like it. My mom said she likes it. My mom didn’t think I could grow hair. I was like, ‘ma, c’mon. What’s wrong with you? I had a bald head for so long, people think it was by force, not by choice. But we gonna switch it up. Plus my right hand man is locked up: K Rosewood. He ain’t here. That’s one of my goals, besides keeping him on the dog tag, I got my hair.

“I can’t grow a beard, [though],” Kiss added with a laugh. “If I could grow the big beard, that’s another thing, if I could grow the big beard, I would too while I was in my work process. But I can’t. I only can grow the peach fuzz.”
